    • A high M R ratio of about 170% has been recently observed at room temperature in fully epitaxial MTJs with a MgO(001) tunnel barrier and Heusler-alloy electrodes (e.g. N. Tezuka et al, Appl. Phys. Lett. 89, 252508 (2006)). This large TMR, effect is, however, considered to originate from the coherent tunneling in a crystalline MgO(001) barrier rather than from the half metallic nature of the electrodes. Note that when combined with a crystalline MgO(001) barrier, even simple ferromagnetic electrodes such as Fe and Co yield giant MR ratios from 180% up to 410% at room temperature 33 109 as described in Section 652 316
