This is the first report showing that the intratracheal application of CpG-ODN covalently linked to allergen is very efficient in inhibiting allergen-induced Th2 responses. In addition, the authors found that 100-fold less of the conjugate could be used to inhibit the development of Th2 responses compared with giving CpG-ODN alone. These results indicate that vaccines utilising CpG-ODN should use conjugates, as negative side effects associated with increased inflammation after the application of CpG-ODN may be avoided
