Biochem Biophys Res Commun (2000) 276:905-908. Intravenous administrations of rat ghrelin increased gastric acid secretion and gastric motility. The maximum response in gastric acid secretion was almost equipotent to that of histamine. These results suggest that ghrelin may play a physiological role in the vagal control of gastric function in rats.
