We measured the C-C distance of our graphite area and compared to the known value of C-C bond in graphite. We used the C-C distance of 1.42 Å in graphite lattice as the reference. The C-C distance in our STM experiments was larger than for the known value due to the piezo drift, a common problem encounters in STM measurements. Often, we measure the reference sample everyday because the piezo drift changes from day to day. So our calculated value has been corrected for the piezo drift
