    • IRF3 mediates a TLR3/TLR4-specific antiviral gene program
    • This study identifies a subset of antiviral genes activated by stimulation with TLR3 and TLR4 ligands. IRF3 was shown to be the critical factor mediating selective upregulation of antiviral gene expression, and pre-treatment with TLR3 and TLR4 ligands could potently inhibit viral replication. The authors suggest that TLR3 and TLR4 have evolutionarily diverged from other TLRs, and are capable of activating innate antiviral responses through IRF3
