    • The biosynthetic pathway of 2 has been well investigated (see Refs. 15a,b) and the cloning of gene cluster for geldannamycin production has also been accomplished (see Refs. 15c,d) to obtain novel geldanamycin derivatives with the same absolute stereochemistry of the ansa ring by generating them through genetic engineering on the gene cluster for geldannamycin production (see Ref. 14).
