Model building shows that, at a minimum, the translocon complex consists of four SecY heterotrimers and two TRAP complexes. Furthermore, it provides evidence for passage of the elongating chain through a single SecY heterotrimer.

Di Nola Properties of integral membrane protein structures: derivation of an implicit membrane potential Proteins 59 2005 252 265 The authors provide a nearly definitive analysis of the TM distributions of amino acids in helix-bundle membrane proteins of known structure. Computed potentials of mean force allow the accurate prediction of the TM position of membrane proteins.
