Immunization with the tumor-specific peptide H11.1, using an immunostimulatory CpG oligonucleotide as adjuvant, led to a 25-fold increase in clonal, Th1-polarized CD4 cells compared with immunization without adjuvant. CpG DNA functioned as a stronger Th1 adjuvant that CFA and, unlike CFA, elicited protective, IFNγ-dependent immunity.
