    • Exposure of polycrystalline CdS films of the type used in the solar cells, i.e., with smaller grain size than that of the CdTe films, to solutions of dS derivatives led to changes in work function in accordance with the free-molecule dipole moments. These changes (with a span of 240 meV) indicate that dS molecules are adsorbed on CdS with defined orientation. This is more likely physi- than chemisorption.
