Role of unphosphorylated, newly synthesized IκB-β in persistent activation of NF-κB
-
Suyang H, Phillips R, Douglas I, Ghosh S: Role of unphosphorylated, newly synthesized IκB-β in persistent activation of NF-κB. Mol Cell Biol 1996, 16:5444-5449. A novel mechanism regulating NF-κB activation by IκB-β is proposed. Unlike IkB-α, IkB-β must be phosphorylated in order for it to inhibit NF-κB activation.

Identification of IL-4 promoter elements conferring Th2-restricted expression during T helper cell subset development
-
Wenner CA, Szabo SJ, Murphy KM: Identification of IL-4 promoter elements conferring Th2-restricted expression during T helper cell subset development J Immunol 1997, 158:765-773. Analysis of reporter gene expression in transgenic mice demonstrates that the proximal promoter region of IL-4 directs Th2-specific expression. Their data, however, also indicate that there are elements outside the proximal promoter region which make substantial contributions to Th2-specific IL-4 gene expression.

Genetic mapping of a murine locus controlling development of T helper 1/T helper 2 type response
-
+ T cells purified from Balb/c and B10.D2 mice differ in the profile of cytokines produced after antigen stimulation. Analysis of experimental intercrosses of Balb/c and B10.D2 mice demonstrates that a genetic locus on murine chromosome 11 determines whether CD4 T cells have a Th1 or Th2 profile of cytokine production.
