    • Pearse et al. conducted a randomized clinical trial in 734 high-risk patients undergoing major gastrointestinal surgery, and revealed that GDT using CO-guided hemodynamic management did not provide significant decreases in 30-day major complications and mortality (relative risk = 0.84, 95 % confidence interval 0.71 to 1.01). However, in a meta-analysis of 38 trials including this data, they also indicated that the hemodynamic intervention was related to a reduction in postoperative complications (intervention 31.5 %, control 41.6%; relative risk = 0.77, 95 % confidence interval 0.71 to 0.83)
