    • Both PHE and TYR also absorb at 280 nm, and in addition, exposure to water makes fluorescence decay faster (see: McCammon, J. A.; Wolynes, P. G.; Karplus, M. Biochemistry 1979, 18, 927.). Although there are 39 TRP residues used to calculate the TRP Stokes shift dynamics, an additional 27 TYR and 58 PHE residues also exist in the wild type, which might have contributed to a faster decay of the correlation function compared to the TRP-only function calculated from MD simulations.
