We scanned the output of the OPO between 1200 and 1400 nm without observing any measurable P ground-state bleach signal with lock-in detection. Because the molar extinction coefficient of the B band is known, we used 800-nm excitation of the B band as a standard to estimate that the molar extinction coefficient for triplet absorption must be less than 10.
18. 1P. Delayed fluorescence measurements and triplet decay experiments are thus both plagued to some degree by nuclear spin polarization.
