Efficient and sensitive capacitive readout of nanomechanical resonator arrays

    • For the optimum operation of capacitively coupled resonators, the LC matching network needs to be finely tuned to the nanomechanical resonance. After attachment of the desired inductor and capacitor, the capacitor is adjusted by hand to match the LC resonance to the nanomechanical resonance. If further fine tuning of the LC network is needed at low temperatures, this is accomplished in situ within the measurement apparatus using static magnetic fields. We have found that ωLC can be tuned by tuning the inductance of the powdered-iron core chip inductors using an external magnetic field. If no magnetic field is available, a varactor capacitor could possibly be used in place of the hand-trimmable capacitor for in situ adjustment of the LC resonance
