Proximal water molecules were classified as loosely or tightly bound, and their RMSD values in different solvents compared. Of the solvents tested (octane, tetrahydrofuran and acetonitrile), the polar solvent acetonitrile was shown to cause the most water stripping from the enzyme and deepest active site intrusion.
