    • Appropriate amounts of as-received single-walled carbon nanotubes (Carbolex Inc.) were added to a 10 wt % polymer solution in acetone to make the weight ratio of polymer to nanotube equal to 1000:1. These solutions were sonicated in a low-power (70-W) ultrasonic bath for 15 min, sprayed on glass slides, and then dried under vacuum for 2 h. The same procedure without the addition of nanotubes was used to make films of polymers to subtract out the contributions from vibrational transitions of the polymers at the low-frequency end of the spectrum. Films containing only nanotubes were made by spraying acetone suspension of nanotubes without the polymers.
