In this study, the authors developed a TCR-transgenic model system in which the TCR α-chain was expressed at the appropriate developmental stage. In this model, H-Y-specific clonal deletion occurs at the late (SP) stage of development, which is in contrast to conventional models, in which it occurs early. This indicates that early deletion is a non-physiological aspect of TCR-transgenic models.

These studies also used a genetic-backcross approach to identify potentially relevant loci that regulate this process.
