40. 4 cells per 6-cm plate were resuspended in DMEM containing 10% FBS and added on top of solidified 0.5% Noble agar. At various times after each stimulus, floating and adherent cells were pooled and analyzed for cell viability by trypan blue exclusion and for apoptosis by 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining for condensed chromatin (12).
