    • The TiCl4 treatment leads to the deposition of an ultrapure TiO2 shell (approximately 1nm) on the mesoporous TiO2 (which may contain impurities or have carbon residues at the surface). The procedure leads to increased dye adsorption, lowers the acceptor levels in TiO2 in energy, which can improve the injection efficiency, and it improves electron lifetime significantly.
