    • 2+ derivatives for CT-DNA, thus a similar loading of the 17-mer duplex by these complexes is likely to occur at the same Ru/ODN ratio By monitoring the changes of luminescence of the complexes upon addition of excess CT-DNA (P/Ru = 100), we observed that a thermodynamic equilibrium was reached within 1-2 min, and with no detectable difference between the derivatised complexes (see ESI). This was surprising since it was expected that the presence of the linker, with a bulky Boc protecting group on the intercalating dppz ligand, would generate a steric hindrance responsible for a slow threading between the base pairs. The data show however that the linker does not affect the intercalation
