    • No product was isolated with simple iodoacetylene compounds or reagents 1 a-c. Reagents 1 a and 1 b were obtained in 47% and 70% yield, respectively, from, iodosobenzene diacetate and reagents 1 c and 1 d in 55% and 76% yield, respectively, from 2iodobenzoic acid (see the Supporting Information for experimental details). Our current work has been focused on silylprotected reagents, as they give easy access to free acetylenes and since no direct alkynylation method was available with, this class of substrates. Examination of other acetylene-benziodoxolone reagents is currently ongoing, and these results will be reported in due course.
