2 (38.8 mg, 0.125 mmol) were placed in a thick-walled Pyrex tube (ca. 15 cm long). After DMF (2 mL) was added, the mixture was evacuated and the tube was flame-sealed. The tube was heated at 160 C for 48 h. Upon cooling to room temperature over 48 h, red crystals of 1 suitable for X-ray diffraction were formed, yielded: 34.5 mg, about 25% based on CuCN. Yellow crystals of 2 were obtained via a similar manner as for 1 except that CuSCN was used instead of CuCN, Yield: 41.5 mg, about 30% based on CuSCN.
