Imaging of lipid biosynthesis: how a neutral lipid enters lipid droplets

By a combination of life cell imaging and kinetic biochemical analysis, this study shows that triglyceride is formed on the surface of LDs, catalyzed by DGAT2. This implies that LDs grow independent of fusion events by local synthesis of triglyceride.
