    • An interesting quote stemming from Manfred T. Reetz addressing a chemist involved in "ligand design": "Can you tell me if you designed your ligand to give the (R)- or the (S)-isomer of the product". It is clear that no one can answer this question. Hence, there is no such thing as ligand design. At best one can copy features that are present in "privileged" ligands, that is, ligands that have been successful in other cases.
