These counterintuitive results presumably arise from a combination of statistical effects, which favour the formation of products which reflect the composition of starting materials which make up the library, and entropic effects, which favour homo/heterooligomers which contain a small number of components. Empirical modeling of DCLs in which homooligomers compete with heterooligomers are addressed in the following articles.
