    • Point-mutation spectra from brain, heart, liver, spleen and small intestine of 3.5- and 32-month-old mice were assayed using a lacZ transgenic reporter/plasmid recovery system. Spectra were similar in all tissues of young mice, but differed amongst tissues in old mice, suggesting that organ function, rather than replicative history, is the primary determinant in mutation frequency
