    • Autoinduction of 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol biosynthesis in the biocontrol agent Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0 and repression by the bacterial metabolites salicylate and pyoluteorin
    • This is the first paper to demonstrate that the biosynthesis of the antifungal compound Phl in P. fluorescens is regulated by a positive feedback loop. This autoinduction circuit can be countered by two other extracellular metabolites (Sal, Plt) of the bacterium and, interestingly, by a toxin (fusaric acid) produced by the pathogenic fungus Fusarium oxysporum. The mechanism, which is mediated by the pathway-specific repressor PhlF, is proposed to help fP. fluorescens to produce homeostatically balanced amounts of extracellular metabolites

    • Global GacA-steered control of cyanide and exoprotease production in Pseudomonas fluorescens involves specific ribosome binding sites
    • This important study is the first to show that in P. fluorescens the global regulator GacA activates the production of the extracellular products cyanide and protease at the post-transcriptional level by downregulating the activity of the global translational repressor RsmA, an RNA-binding protein. The authors postulate that GacA controls a central switch from bacterial primary to secondary metabolism at the level of translation
