Tumor targeting with a selective gelantinase inhibitor

A peptide was isolated by phage display against purified MMP-9. This peptide was found to home to tumors that overexpress this cell-surface marker. This is an interesting example of how phage display on purified targets can translate to in vivo targeting reagents.

Membrane dipeptidase is the receptor for a lung-targeting peptide identified by in vivo phage display

This is the first example of the identification of a receptor for a peptide ligand that was isolated from a non-biased selection. As more and more targeting ligands are isolated from these types of phage-display screens, there will be an increasing need to identify the receptors for these ligands.
