41. The sapphire miscut induces a rotationally dependent birefringence that rotates the p-polarized SHG light into the s-polarized direction. Thus, in the s-out polarization, both s-polarized SHG, which results from the GaN miscut, and p-polarized SHG, which results from the sapphire miscut, are measured.
