Inhibition of Borna disease virus replication by an endogenous bornavirus-like element in the ground squirrel genome
-
This study showed that exogenous expression of an EBLN in the thirteen-lined ground squirrel inhibits bornavirus replication. This is the first report showing that non-retroviral EVEs may act as antiviral genes in the host cells.
