    • Formally, clean ZnO presents a unique and well dispersive sp conduction band bottom, that can be described by a quasi-parabolic effective mass, averaged in the three directions. Nonparabolic contributions which become increasingly relevant at increasing doping levels have been observed.(47) We wish to point out however that our results should not be affected by a more accurate description of the optical gap and onset of optical transitions, with the energy range of application described here being completely different.
