    • The complete incorporation of thiazole-functionalized monomers into the corresponding monoliths was checked by 1H NMR analysis of the THF solution used to wash the solid material. FT-IR and UV analyses proved to be less effective in this determination because of the complexity of the washing solution A negative effect of silica acidity on the activity of catalysts S7 can be reasonably excluded by the large excess of the base used to promote carbene formation
