    • Toluene was also effective in this strategy to separate, recover and reuse N-heterocyclic carbene catalyst in this transesterification reaction. The isolated yield (transesterification reaction of isopropenyl acetate and 1-hexadecanol catalyzed by IMes in toluene) was 93%. Diethyl ether and hexane could facilitate the precipitation of NHC·HCl, but they were not good solvents for this transesterification reaction
