72. For instance, the reactions of 1a with methanol and hexylamine gave the intermediate 2-bromobenzo[ b ]thiophene in 8% and 14% yields, respectively. The reaction of 1b with methanol furnished 2-bromo-6-chlorobenzo[ b ]thiophene in 15% yield.
