These samples were also confirmed by cytogenetic analysis; b Philadelphia chromosome is an abnormal chromosomal translocation caused by the juxtapositioning of part of the BCR gene from chromosome 22 (region q11) to the Abll gene on chromosome 9 (region q34). 95 % of the people with CML have this reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22.
