    • We note that even faster laser equipment and a diffusion-limited time resolution of ca. 1 ns is likely to be insufficient to investigate the PTZ→RuIII charge transfer kinetics in the Ruph1-PTZ molecule. From a fit to the Ru-Xyn-PTZ data we determine k0, 3 × 1010 s-1 for the PTZ/Ru(bpy)33+ couple. Since for rDA, 19.2 À (Ru-ph3-PTZ) ktunneling ≥ 10 8 s-1, and thus β ≤ 0.43 Å-1 for this process. Consequently, for the Ru-ph1PTZ system the tunneling rate is expected to be ≥ 4.9 × 109 s-1
