Tagging of stress-responsive genes Plant Physiol 134 2004 18 27 A promoter trap vector was transformed with a promoterless firefly luciferase reporter gene that was linked by its right T-DNA border to A. thaliana genes. Analysis of the transformants' luciferase expression pattern in different tissues under different environmental conditions allowed the authors conclude that luciferase gene traps provide an excellent tool with which to monitor the expression of stress-responsive A. thaliana genes in vivo.

Cannoot Versatile gene-specific sequence tags for Arabidopsis functional genomics: transcript profiling and reverse genetics applications Genome Res 14 2004 2176 2189 The paper describes a gene-specific sequence tag collection for the A. thaliana genome that is suitable for applications such as transcript profiling and reverse genetics. In particular, gateway technology was used in reverse genetics, which streamlined the sub-cloning of hairpinRNA expression vectors and increased the efficiency of RNAi-line construction. A pilot experiment successfully demonstrated the potential of the approach.

It organizes microarray data into different metabolic pathways, and its mapping file provides an excellent description of the topology of gene network. The extendability of this software makes it possible to construct virtually any kind of network for microarray analysis. An update [49] now includes statistical analysis capabilities.
