3H] -acetate prelabeled chicken reticulocyte histones (10 μL, 4 mg/mL) and compounds. Reaction was stopped by 1 M HCl/0.4 M acetate (36 μL) and ethyl acetate (800 μL). After centrifugation (10000g, 5 min), an aliquot of the upper phase (600 μL) was counted for radioactivity in liquid scintillation cocktail (3 mL).
