Antigen receptor engagement turns off the V(D)J recombination machinery in human tonsil B cells
-
This paper shows that immunoglobulin engagement terminates RAG mRNA expression in human tonsil B cells. The authors also show that germinal centers in human tonsil contain B cells that co-express surrogate and conventional light chains. Such cells can be seen outside of germinal centers, too.

Absence of expression of RAG1 in peritoneal B-1 cells detected by knocking into RAG1 locus with green fluorescent protein gene
-
The authors established a mouse strain whose RAG1 gene is replaced by the GFP gene by gene targeting. They reported that RAG1 is not re-induced in RAG1-negative cells by stimulation using mitogens and various B cell activators.
