    • TNF-α And cancer therapy-induced apoptosis: Potentiation by inhibition of NF-κB
    • of outstanding interest. This paper, along with [57-59], shows that activation of NF-κB is able to work as an anti-apoptotic signal for TNF-induced cell death, suggesting a molecular mechanism for the prevention of apoptosis during inflammation. The results also present a mechanism explaining why TNF-induced apoptosis can be accomplished in many cell types only in the presence of cycloheximide.

    • of special interest. A series of studies [62-64,65] showed that mammalian homologs of the baculovirus inhibitor of apoptosis genes act as anti-apoptotic signals and also are recruited to the TNFR signaling complex, suggesting a potential molecular explanation for a protective role of TNF from apoptosis.
