    • As it has been stated, the regioselectivity of electrophile-promoted nucleophilic cyclizations cannot be predicted by Baldwin rules, since the coordination of the electrophile to the alkyne modifies the symmetry of the alkyne frontier molecular orbitals. This change in symmetry allows both endocyclic and exocyclic cyclizations, and the result depends on the nature of the Lewis acid and the alkynyl substitution. J.E. Baldwin J. Chem. Soc., Chem.
