Chiral chromatography could serve here as an example where the separation between enantiomers is based on the diatereomeric principle, i.e. on a tiny energy difference between heterochiral and homochiral interactions. This small effect of the diastereoisomeric interaction between the chiral compound and the chiral stationary phase is amplified by the iterative process of attachment and detachment all long the column. This is a kind of proofreading: the system is open and far from equilibrium and a tiny energy difference is successively amplified
