    • 4Ad (Ad = 1-adamantyl) is the most crowded hydrocarbon for which X-ray data are available, and considerably distorted. 13 DFT computation closely reproduced the X-ray structure, with core bond angles and torsion angles within 1° of the experimental values, whilst core bond lengths averaged 0.01 Å longer than the X-ray derived average of 1.643 Å
