    • 3 and EtMgCl exhibited very low macroscopic magnetism; thus, the magnetic separation of the catalyst was inadequate. However, owing to the low price and toxicity of iron, catalyst recycling is far-less crucial than with noble- and toxic metals. Aqueous work-up of the crude reaction mixture resulted in rapid oxidation of the catalyst species and clean product phase-separation.
