    • A FERM domain autoregulates Drosophila myosin 7a activity
    • An intramolecular interaction between the motor domain and the C-terminal FERM domain of Myosin-VIIA is documented here, which presumably negatively regulate Myosin-VIIA activity. It is also shown that the FERM domain can directly bind to F-actin. The authors propose that Myosin-VIIA could be activated by increasing local F-actin levels; as the FERM domain binds to actin, the autoinhibition is released.

    • Sisyphus, the Drosophila myosin XV homolog, traffics within filopodia transporting key sensory and adhesion cargos
    • Drosophila Myosin-XV is shown to be required for filopodium formation in leading edge cells during dorsal closure of the embryo. DE-cadherin and several microtubule-associated proteins are identified as cargo for Myosin-XV, and the authors document direct interactions between the Myosin-XV FERM domain and the cadherin cytoplasmic tail.

    • Previous work has shown that Myosin-X can bind to microtubules and is important for the assembly of mitotic spindles [58]. This study shows that Myosin-X localized to spindle poles and is required for several aspects of spindle organization including spindle anchoring, pole integrity, and spindle length control. The requirement of Myosin-X in spindle pole integrity appears to be F-actin independent.
