Reference 43 reports that electron transfer from FTO to I 3- is significant for DSC using organic dyes, and it was suppressed largely by introducing a compact layer on the FTO. We have checked the influence of TiCl4 treatment on nanoporous TiO2 electrode, and a similar effect was seen between MK3 and N719 Figure S7, Supporting Information, suggesting the recombination from FTO is not the reason for the lower Voc in the case of DSC/MK3. We have checked also the effect of the compact layer for our samples and observed the non-negligible recombination from the FTO when the electron density becomes lower than 2 × 1017 cm-3. Under these conditions, the electron lifetime and Fermi level are underestimated. Above the electron concentration, little influence was seen
