Even if photooxidation of acetonitrile itself occur, it will not strongly affect the result. Because the amount of oxidized acetonitrile is on the order of only about 1 pmol per one shot, when all generated electrons are from oxidation of acetonitrile. We also confirmed the reproducibility of the amount of photogenerated electrons during the continuous laser irradiation for several times, which indicates that the effect of the photooxidated products on electron generation is negligible.
