    • In this study, the "drug binding" is used synonymously with the "drug partitioning into the membrane." Membrane-bound and unbound (free) states of drugs are under equilibrium, with an exchange rate slow enough to distinguish as the chemical shift difference between the two states.

    • Although the hydrodynamic continuum model gives the motion of LUV slowed inversely to the vesicular size, the slow down of the molecular motion is leveled off in fluid lipid vesicles where the diameter exceeds 100 nm, see Ref.. The limited slowdown is due to the intramembrane fluidity. From this point of view, the molecular movement is not so restricted even in sufficiently large cell membranes.
