    • We have not located pKa values for methanol and water in acetonitrile. Estimates can be based on comparison of the pKa values of various other oxygen acids in acetonitrile and DMSO. On average, the values are 10 units higher in acetonitrile, and this quantity can be added to the ptfa of methanol in DMSO (28.9926b) and that of water in DMSO (28.2, 31.3626b, These very large estimated values of pKa (39 and 38-41, respectively) in acetonitrile may not be significant as they exceed the estimated negative logarithm of the autoprotolysis constant of the solvent, 28.6,33.2 or 33.3.26b see, however:Schwesinger, R, Schlemper, H.
