    • The small difference in electron self-exchange rate constants (kse) between viologens (e.g, MV2, kse 8.1 × 108 21) and TTFs (e.g, Me 4TTF0/, kse 3.3 × 10 M -1s-1 22) cannot account for the different forms of the current-overpotential relations for 6V6 and 6PTTF6. Note that self-assembled monolayers incorporating [M(terpy)2]2+/3, M, Co, Os) units both show current-overpotential relations in scanning tunneling spectroscopy experiments similar in form to 6PTTF6, yet they have very different interfacial electron transfer rates, > 106 s-1 (M, Os) and ca. 103 s-1 (M, Co).23 (21) Grampp, G, Mladenova, B.
